This November, Men’s Health Comes First

Every November, people around the world grow moustaches. It looks like a fun tradition, and it is. But behind every moustache is a serious message: men’s health matters, and it deserves more attention than it usually gets.

At Waha, we believe wellness is for everyone, and that small daily habits add up. So this month, we’re making space for the men in our community to pause, check in with themselves, and make time for their own wellbeing.

Why November?

November has become the month for men’s health. The idea is simple:

  • Grow a moustache to start conversations. A new moustache gets noticed, and that opens the door to talk.
  • Raise awareness of men’s physical and mental health.
  • Encourage action, from booking a check-up to talking openly with a friend.

The moustache is just the conversation starter. The real goal is helping men look after themselves, all year round.

Why men’s health needs more attention

Many men grow up believing they should be strong, quiet and self-reliant. Those are good qualities in many ways. But they can also mean:

  • Putting off doctor visits until something feels seriously wrong
  • Ignoring signs of stress, low mood or exhaustion
  • Not talking about how they really feel, even with close friends
  • Putting work and family first, and themselves last

The result is that small issues can become bigger ones. The good news is that many of these can be helped with simple, steady habits and a little more openness.

Looking after your body

Physical health is the foundation. You don’t need a complete lifestyle overhaul. Start with the basics:

  • Book a regular check-up. Even if you feel fine, a yearly visit to your doctor helps catch things early.
  • Know your numbers. Ask about blood pressure, cholesterol and blood sugar, and what’s healthy for you.
  • Notice changes. If something in your body feels different and doesn’t go away, get it checked. Don’t wait.
  • Drink enough water. Especially in a warm climate, staying hydrated supports energy and focus.
  • Eat more whole foods. More vegetables, fruit, nuts and lean protein. Fewer processed snacks.
  • Move every day. A walk counts. So does taking the stairs.

Looking after your mind

Mental health is just as important as physical health, but it’s often the part men talk about least.

  • Check in with yourself. Ask honestly: how am I sleeping? How is my mood? Am I feeling stretched too thin?
  • Talk to someone. A friend, a brother, a colleague or a professional. Saying it out loud often makes it lighter.
  • Make time to switch off. Step away from screens and work, even for 20 minutes a day.
  • Notice stress signals. Irritability, poor sleep, headaches and low energy can all be signs you need a break.
  • Ask for help early. Speaking to a professional is a sign of strength, not weakness.

Looking out for each other

Men’s health isn’t only about looking after yourself. It’s also about the men around you: fathers, brothers, sons, friends and colleagues.

  • Ask twice. If someone says “I’m fine,” ask again. “Are you sure? How are you really?”
  • Listen without fixing. Sometimes people just need to be heard.
  • Do things together. A walk, a game or a coffee can make it easier to talk.
  • Remind them to book check-ups. A gentle nudge from someone who cares can make the difference.

Small habits that add up

You don’t need to change everything at once. Pick one or two habits from this list and start this week:

  1. Go to bed 30 minutes earlier.
  2. Take a 15-minute walk after dinner.
  3. Drink a glass of water before your morning coffee.
  4. Put your phone away during meals.
  5. Book that check-up you’ve been putting off.
  6. Message a friend you haven’t spoken to in a while.
  7. Spend five minutes on a simple skincare or grooming routine.

Once a habit feels easy, add another. Over a month, these small steps make a real difference.
